Job summary

The ideal candidate has proven lead experience on data centre projects, strong commissioning and startup skills in mission-critical environments, and experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

I’m working with a leading data centre contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer with strong commissioning experience to support the delivery of a high-profile data centre project. This role requires someone who has worked across the full project lifecycle, from installation and mechanical completion through to commissioning, testing, and handover on recognised hyperscale or large-scale data centre projects.

Location: Portugal

Start Date: November 2026

Rate: Negotiable

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical engineering activities across the full data centre project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and manage mechanical subcontractors and onsite teams.
• Support and oversee commissioning, testing, startup, and handover activities.
• Interface with clients, consultants, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure all mechanical systems are delivered safely, on schedule, and to specification.
• Proven experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on data centre projects.
• Strong commissioning and startup experience within mission-critical environments.
• Experience working on recognised hyperscale or large-scale data centres.
• CxA or commissioning authority experience.
• Previous experience working on hyperscale data centre developments.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams during commissioning and handover phases.
• Ability to start in November.
