Job summary

SSA Consulting Group seeks an experienced MEP Lead to drive delivery of a major data centre project in Portugal. You will lead and coordinate design, construction, commissioning and handover across multiple trades, while guiding engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to meet tight schedules.

The role requires 10+ years in large-scale M&E or mission-critical projects, strong leadership and stakeholder management, and a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical/electrical building services or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in large-scale M&E or mission-critical projects.
• Strong leadership and coordination of multi-disciplinary MEP teams.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholders and deliver complex projects on time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all MEP activities across design, construction, commissioning, and handover stages.
• Manage and support MEP engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and specialist contractors.
• Oversee technical reviews, quality inspections, programme progress, and project reporting.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, design teams, and key project stakeholders.
• Review MEP design information, submittals, method statements, and project documentation.
• Identify and resolve design, installation, and coordination issues to maintain momentum.
• Ensure MEP works meet project specs, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Drive commissioning readiness and support testing and handover of MEP systems.
• Assist with planning, forecasting, progress tracking, and milestone achievement.

Duties include (but not limited to)

• Lead and coordinate all MEP activities across design, construction, commissioning, and handover stages.
• Manage and support MEP engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and specialist contractors.

Position Requirements

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience within large-scale construction, M&E, or mission-critical projects.
• Strong experience managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary MEP teams.
• Excellent understanding of MEP systems, design coordination, installation, and commissioning processes.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Previous data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical project experience is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to deliver complex projects within demanding programme environments.
