HDR is seeking experienced Senior Commissioning Engineers and Managers to join a major hyperscale data center project near Lisbon, Portugal. Candidates should have over 5 years of commissioning experience, particularly in the data center environment, and technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

The role involves leading the commissioning lifecycle, managing complexity, and ensuring systems are designed and delivered to the highest standards. A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills are essential.

This is a full-time position with a regular employee status.

Qualificações

The Opportunity

We will be looking for experienced Commissioning Engineers and Commissioning Managers — both permanent hires and contractors — to join a major hyperscale data centre project near Lisbon.

This is a chance to be part of a high‑performing, multidisciplinary team delivering mission‑critical infrastructure at scale. You will play a central role in ensuring systems are designed, tested, and delivered to the highest standards — contributing directly to the reliability and performance of a landmark project.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full commissioning lifecycle
• Develop commissioning strategies, plans, schedules, and test procedures
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on certification and quality objectives
• Perform inspections, testing, and reporting across systems
• Support technical design reviews and construction‑phase commissioning activities
• Represent the commissioning perspective in project and client meetings
• Oversee factory testing, third‑party validations, and final sign‑offs
• Provide technical expertise in risk management and system performance
• Collaborate closely with contractors and project teams to deliver integrated solutions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commissioning experience (data centre experience highly valued)
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
• Ability to manage complexity, solve problems, and deliver under pressure
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills

Preferred Requirements

• Commissioning certifications (CxA, CCP, BCxP, CBCP)
• Engineering degree or Professional Engineer status
• LEED accreditation
• Experience with HVAC load calculation tools (Trace, IES)
