You will handle cutting, packaging, labeling, inventory, and customer inquiries, contributing to product quality, safety, and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a butcher or chicken cutter in a retail setting.
• Knowledge of cuts, portioning, and presentation.
• Ability to use meat processing equipment safely.
• Familiar with food safety guidelines (HACCP).
• Physical stamina for standing and lifting.
• Willingness to obtain or maintain food handling certification.

About the role

MKS WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT SERVICES INC is seeking a skilled Merchandiser/Chicken Cutter (Butcher) to join our retail and consumer products team. This is a full-time position based in Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, processing, and presenting poultry products to the highest standards, whilst ensuring food safety compliance and maintaining an efficient retail display. You will be a key member of our retail operations, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Professionally cut, trim, and portion chicken and other poultry products according to established standards and customer specifications
• Prepare and package meat products using proper food handling techniques and packaging materials
• Maintain accurate product weights and pricing in accordance with retail guidelines
• Ensure all work areas, equipment and tools are kept clean, sanitised and in safe working condition at all times
• Rotate stock following first-in-first-out (FIFO) principles to maintain product freshness and quality
• Display and merchandise poultry products attractively in refrigerated cases and retail counters
• Maintain detailed records of inventory, waste and product usage
• Adhere strictly to food safety regulations, hygiene standards and company policies
• Assist with customer inquiries regarding product selection and preparation methods
• Monitor product quality and report any issues to management promptly

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a butcher, chicken cutter or in a similar meat preparation role within a retail environment
• Strong knowledge of proper butchering techniques, cuts and portioning standards
• Proficiency in using butchery tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations and HACCP principles
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items and perform repetitive tasks
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent product quality
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment
• Reliable, punctual and able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings if required
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
• Current food handling certification or willingness to obtain one
• Relevant training qualifications in meat processing, butchery or culinary arts are advantageous
