Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement or purchasing management experience in construction.
• Proven record of supplier relationships and contract negotiation.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and supplier markets.
• Excellent analytical and cost management skills.
• Proficiency with procurement systems and MS Office.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of Malaysia construction procurement standards.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to join our team on a full-time basis in Iskandar Puteri, Johor. This is a key position within our organisation, responsible for overseeing all procurement activities and ensuring the efficient sourcing of materials, equipment, and services required for our construction projects. As Purchasing Manager, you will play a crucial role in optimising our supply chain, managing costs, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to support the successful delivery of our projects. Your strategic approach to procurement will directly impact our project timelines, budgets, and overall operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives and project requirements
• Source, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and quality standards
• Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements to secure favourable terms and conditions
• Manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and inventory levels to support project timelines
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliability and quality
• Coordinate with project managers and site teams to identify material and equipment requirements
• Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
• Maintain accurate procurement records, documentation, and reporting systems
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards
• Manage procurement budgets and provide regular reporting on expenditure and savings
• Resolve procurement issues and disputes with suppliers in a timely and professional manner

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing management, preferably within the construction industry
• Proven track record of successfully managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and supplier markets
• Excellent analytical and cost management skills with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices
• Experience with inventory management and logistics coordination
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and senior management
• Preferred: Familiarity with construction procurement standards and codes of practice in Malaysia
