• Proven experience as a Construction Purchaser or in a similar procurement role.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure pricing and favourable terms.
• Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational and time management skills for multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in processing purchase orders.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with internal teams and external suppliers.
• Understanding of construction project schedules and prioritisation.
• Proactive problem-solving and supply chain management.
• Preferred: experience in Malaysia's construction sector and local suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers and vendors for construction materials, equipment, and services
• Sourcing competitive quotations and negotiating contracts to achieve optimal pricing and terms
• Preparing and processing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements
• Managing supplier relationships and communications to ensure timely delivery and issue resolution
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with project teams to forecast material requirements
• Maintaining procurement records and documentation for audit and compliance
• Liaising between project managers, site supervisors, and suppliers to address procurement challenges

About the role Oriental United Construction Sdn Bhd is seeking a Construction Purchaser to join our procurement team in Kuala Lumpur on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position within our construction management operations, where you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services essential to our construction projects. The Construction Purchaser plays a vital role in ensuring cost-effective procurement, maintaining supplier relationships, and supporting project timelines to deliver successful construction outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers and vendors for construction materials, equipment, and services

Sourcing competitive quotations and negotiating contracts to achieve optimal pricing and terms whilst maintaining quality standards

Preparing and processing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements

Managing supplier relationships and communications to ensure timely delivery and resolution of any supply chain issues

Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with project teams to forecast material requirements

Maintaining detailed procurement records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes

Liaising between project managers, site supervisors, and suppliers to address procurement challenges and expedite deliveries when necessary

Contributing to cost control initiatives and identifying opportunities for procurement savings without compromising quality

Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies, regulations, and health and safety standards

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Construction Purchaser or in a similar procurement role within the construction industry

Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers commonly used in building and infrastructure projects

Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable contract terms

Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications

Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple procurement tasks simultaneously

Attention to detail and accuracy in processing purchase orders and maintaining documentation

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers

Understanding of construction project schedules and the ability to prioritise urgent procurement needs

A proactive approach to problem-solving and supply chain management

Preferred: Previous experience working in Malaysia's construction sector and familiarity with local suppliers
