Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Purchasing Manager to support procurement operations, supplier management, and project purchasing activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely material availability, managing supplier performance, optimizing procurement processes, and supporting project delivery requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Purchasing Manager in reviewing purchase requisitions and coordinating procurement activities with internal departments.
Work closely with the Contract Department to verify purchasing requirements and ensure alignment with project needs.
Coordinate with suppliers on delivery planning, follow up on outstanding orders, and ensure timely material delivery.
Monitor procurement documentation flow, including Purchase Orders (PO), Delivery Orders (DO), Receiving Orders (RO), and invoices.
Liaise with site teams to provide delivery updates, resolve procurement-related issues, and support project requirements.
Support quotation sourcing and cost evaluation for project tendering activities.
Review supplier quotations, negotiate pricing, and ensure procurement decisions achieve the best value.
Coach and guide junior procurement team members in daily operations and performance improvement.
Monitor inventory levels, purchasing lead times, and supplier performance to ensure smooth project execution.
Maintain strong supplier relationships and continuously improve procurement efficiency.
Requirements
Diploma/Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, or related disciplines.
Minimum 5 - 7 years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably within construction, engineering, or project-based industries.
Strong negotiation skills with good understanding of market pricing and supplier capabilities.
Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously.
Strong communication skills with ability to coordinate between suppliers, site teams, and internal stakeholders.
Experience supervising or guiding junior procurement personnel will be advantageous.
