Job summary

Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled Machine Operator (Machining) to join our Kulim facility in Kedah. You will operate CNC machine tools, read drawings, set up equipment and monitor quality to meet specifications and schedules.

The ideal candidate has experience in machining, can read blueprints, and works well in a team. Training opportunities include hands-on programs, plus a planned training trip to our China facility early July.

Qualifications

• Must have full working rights for Malaysia.
• Able to communicate in Chinese or English.
• Experience as Machine Operator in machining/manufacturing environment.
• Minimum SPM education or higher.
• Proficient in CNC and/or conventional machining.
• Able to read technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools.
• Knowledge of machining processes, tolerances and materials.
• Good eyesight and color vision sufficient for inspection.
• Detail-oriented with strong quality focus.
• Willing to work a 3-shift roster (min 240 hours per month).
• Certifications in machining advantageous.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Operator (Machining) to join our manufacturing team at Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based at our facility in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining precision machining equipment to produce high-quality components. You will play a crucial part in our production operations, ensuring that all machined parts meet our stringent quality standards and delivery schedules. This position is integral to maintaining our reputation for excellence in manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

Operate and monitor CNC machine tools, machining centres, saws and conventional machining equipment to produce precision components according to specifications

Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, equipment manuals, safety regulations and work instructions to ensure accurate and safe machining

Set up machining equipment, including tool changes, calibration and alignment of materials

Measure finished components using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometres and gauges to verify conformance to specifications

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns

Identify and report equipment malfunctions or quality issues to supervisors promptly

Correctly wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe and organised work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols

Maintain a clean and tidy 5S work site, with materials kept in their designated positions and walkways/aisles kept clear

Document production data and maintain accurate records of work completed

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines, completing tasks to the required quality without wasting raw materials

Continuously monitor machine performance and make minor adjustments to maintain quality standards

Participate in relevant training programmes, including an initial hands-on training trip to our facility in China (planned for early July)

What we’re looking for

Candidates have full working rights for Malaysia, with the ability to communicate in Chinese or English

Willing and able to travel to China for hands-on training (tentatively early July)

Proven experience as a Machine Operator in a machining or manufacturing environment, preferably operating CNC machine tools, machining centres, saws or related equipment

Minimum SPM (high school) education or above; this requirement may be relaxed for candidates with relevant operating experience on CNC machine tools, machining centres, saws or similar machining equipment

Proficiency in operating CNC and/or conventional machining equipment

Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Competency in using precision measuring tools and quality control instruments

Good understanding of machining processes, tolerances and material properties

Good eyesight with no colour blindness or colour weakness

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues

Willing and able to work rotating shifts (3-shift roster), including overtime as needed, with a minimum of 240 working hours per month

Reliability, punctuality, stability and a strong work ethic

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and to cooperate with the shift team to complete production tasks

Physical capability to perform manual tasks and stand for extended periods

Must hold a valid forklift operator licence meeting Malaysian safety regulatory requirements

Familiarity with 5S management practices

Valid certifications or training in machining operations or relevant technical qualifications are advantageous

Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment
