in Malaysia is seeking a Production Manager / Senior Manufacturing Engineer to operate and maintain CNC machining equipment, laser marking, and conventional machines to manufacture high-quality components in line with drawings, schedules, and standards. You will support production planning, asset management, and continuous improvement, coordinate with engineers and supervisors, perform first-piece checks, and drive process improvements to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Professional certificate or diploma in mechanical/ manufacturing engineering required.
• 3–5 years CNC machining experience; fresh graduates with relevant training may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Router machines to fabricate project housings, plates, and machining components.
• Prepare workpieces, load materials, set machine parameters, monitor operations, deburr, and inspect finished products.
• Study and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, work instructions, and sample parts to determine machining requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and work sequences.
• Ensure all machined components comply with tolerances, design specs, quality standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks during machining operations.
• Identify machining defects and recommend corrective actions to improve quality and efficiency.
• Support laser marking and tagging machines to produce equipment tags and identification plates.
• Interpret drawings to produce accurate tags and identification plates.
• Notify Purchasing and Project Engineers when external subcontracting is required due to capacity or delivery needs.
• Operate conventional lathe machines and other machining operations safely and efficiently while maintaining quality.

Production Manager / Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Job Purpose

To operate and maintain CNC machining equipment, CNC routers, laser marking machines, and conventional machining equipment to manufacture high-quality components in accordance with engineering drawings, production schedules, quality standards, and project requirements. The CNC Machinist is also responsible for supporting production planning, equipment maintenance, asset management, and continuous process improvement to ensure timely project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CNC Machining Operations

Operate CNC Router machines to fabricate project housings, plates, and machining components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.

Prepare workpieces, load materials, set machine parameters, monitor machining operations, adjust offsets where necessary, perform deburring, and inspect finished products.

Study and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, work instructions, and sample parts to determine machining requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and work sequences.

Ensure all fabricated components comply with dimensional tolerances, design specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.

Perform first-piece inspection and routine in-process quality checks during machining operations.

Identify machining defects and recommend corrective actions to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

To support and maintain laser marking and product tagging machine to produce equipment identification tags, nameplates, labels, and project identification markings.

Interpret engineering drawings and project documentation to produce accurate equipment tags and identification plates.

Notify the Purchasing Department and Project Engineers when external subcontracting is required due to machine capacity limitations or project delivery requirements.

Conventional Machining

Operate conventional lathe machines for turning, drilling, cutting, knurling, threading, and other machining operations as required.

Ensure machining activities are carried out safely and efficiently while maintaining required quality standards.

Production Coordination

Coordinate closely with Project Engineers, CAD Engineers, Production Supervisors, Welders, and Contractors to ensure machining activities are completed according to project schedules.

Identify potential fabrication or welding issues affecting CNC fabricated components and recommend practical solutions.

Provide timely updates on machining progress, production status, and any technical issues that may affect project delivery.

Recommend process improvements and manufacturing enhancements to improve productivity, quality, and manufacturability.

Quality Assurance

Ensure all machined components comply with the Company's Quality Management System (QMS), Project Quality Plan (PQP), customer specifications, and applicable engineering standards.

Equipment Maintenance and Asset Management

Maintain CNC routers, laser marking machines, conventional machining equipment, tools, and related production assets in good working condition.

Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on machining equipment.

Report equipment malfunctions or abnormalities promptly and coordinate corrective maintenance where necessary.

Workplace Safety and Housekeeping

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with Company Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.

Ensure all machinery is operated safely and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is used at all times.

Comply with all safety procedures, work instructions, and statutory regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate, SKM, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Precision Engineering, Machining Technology, or a related discipline.

Minimum 3-5 years of relevant working experience in CNC machining, precision engineering, fabrication, or a related manufacturing environment. Fresh graduates with relevant technical training may also be considered.

Familiar with Mastercam CNC software operation.

Hands-on experience in operating CNC Router machines, laser marking machines, conventional lathe machines, bandsaw machines, drilling machines, sawing, coping, bending machines, and other workshop machinery. Experience with CNC programming and machine setup will be an added advantage.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, technical specifications, and machining tolerances.

Knowledge of precision measurement instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.

Familiar with Quality Management Systems (QMS), safe work practices, and manufacturing quality standards.

Good problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.

Able to work independently with minimum supervision while also working effectively as part of a production team.

Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work under pressure to meet production schedules and project deadlines.

Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal departments.

Must be willing to work in Prai, Penang.
