Job summary

Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to take full ownership of day-to-day shop floor operations at Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah. You will drive production plans, implement Lean practices, and lead a team to achieve output, quality and cost objectives while collaborating closely with procurement, engineering, quality and warehouse departments.

The role requires strong leadership, multilingual communication, and a track record in manufacturing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production management experience in manufacturing.
• Proficient in Lean Manufacturing, 5S management and Kanban management.
• Strong shift-scheduling management skills.
• Familiar with production cost accounting and control methods.
• Excellent problem-solving and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day production operations on the shop floor and ensure targets for output, quality, cost and delivery.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Develop and update SOPs to ensure smooth production processes.
• Monitor costs and implement cost-control measures.
• Analyze production data to support management decisions.
• Enforce the quality management system and manage 5S and safety on the shop floor.
• Build, train, and manage the production team and coordinate with procurement, engineering, QA and warehouse.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Supervisor to join our team at Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based at our facility in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah. In this role, you will take full ownership of day-to-day production operations on the shop floor, driving efficiency, quality, cost control and team performance, while acting as a key communication bridge between local staff and our China headquarters. This position is critical to the successful and sustainable operation of our Malaysian manufacturing branch.

Key responsibilities

Production management and efficiency improvement

Take full responsibility for day-to-day production operations management on the shop floor, ensuring effective execution of production plans and achievement of output, quality, cost and delivery targets

Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Lean Manufacturing principles, identifying and eliminating waste in production processes, and continuously improving production efficiency and capacity

Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure smooth and efficient production processes

Cost control and optimisation

Monitor and analyse production costs (including labour, materials, energy consumption, etc.), and develop and implement cost control measures to achieve cost-saving targets

Compile and analyse production data to support management decision-making

Quality management and safety assurance

Strictly enforce the quality management system to ensure products meet standards and reduce the defect rate

Take full responsibility for 5S management and workplace safety on the shop floor, ensuring a clean and orderly working environment and preventing safety incidents

Team management and development

Build, train, schedule and manage the performance of the production team, enhancing team cohesion and professional skills

Foster a positive working atmosphere, motivate employees, manage employee relations, and maintain team stability

Work closely with procurement, engineering/technical, quality, and warehouse departments to coordinate and resolve various issues arising during production

What we're looking for

Must be fluent in Chinese and Malay (both spoken and written), able to communicate smoothly with local staff and the China headquarters

Good English proficiency will be an added advantage

Professional skills and experience

5+ years of production management experience in manufacturing; experience working in multinational factories or overseas factories of Chinese-invested enterprises is preferred

Proficient in Lean Manufacturing, 5S management, Kanban management and other production management tools and methods

Strong shift-scheduling management skills, able to effectively handle multi-shift production requirements

Familiar with production cost accounting and control methods

Excellent problem-solving skills, able to respond quickly to unexpected situations on the production floor

Excellent leadership and team management ability, able to effectively motivate and develop the team

Results-oriented, with strong resilience under pressure and the ability to adapt to the pace of factory work

Good organisational, coordination and communication skills

Candidates holding relevant professional certifications or a safety production management certificate are preferred
