The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance with 1–2 years in accounts payable, strong Excel skills, and knowledge of Malaysia GST/SST.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
• Proficiency in accounting software; intermediate Excel skills.
• Knowledge of GST/SST or other tax compliance is desirable in Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Processing and verifying invoices from suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
• Recording accounts payable transactions in the financial management system with precision and timeliness
• Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies or variances
• Processing vendor payments in accordance with agreed terms and payment schedules
• Maintaining accurate and organised records of all payable transactions and documentation
• Communicating with suppliers regarding payment inquiries, invoice discrepancies, and account status
• Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures related to accounts payable
• Supporting the preparation of accounts payable reports and financial statements
• Collaborating with the broader finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting

About the role
We are seeking a Finance Executive to join our accounts payable team at our Sepanggar, Sabah location. This is a contract position that plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health and accuracy of our organisation. As a Finance Executive specialising in Accounts Payable, you will be responsible for managing vendor payments, invoice processing, and related financial transactions with meticulous attention to detail. This position is crucial to ensuring smooth cash flow management and maintaining strong relationships with our suppliers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Processing and verifying invoices from suppliers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies

Recording accounts payable transactions in the financial management system with precision and timeliness

Reconciling supplier statements and investigating discrepancies or variances

Processing vendor payments in accordance with agreed terms and payment schedules

Maintaining accurate and organised records of all payable transactions and documentation

Communicating with suppliers regarding payment inquiries, invoice discrepancies, and account status

Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures related to accounts payable

Supporting the preparation of accounts payable reports and financial statements

Collaborating with the broader finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting

What we're looking for

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Proven experience of at least 1-2 years in accounts payable or a similar accounting role

Strong proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems, with Microsoft Excel competency at an intermediate level or above

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial transactions

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders

Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations relevant to Malaysia

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment

Familiarity with GST, SST, or other tax compliance requirements is desirable
