The Finance & Accounts Manager will oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions across multiple business entities.
The successful candidate must be willing to adopt a highly hands-on approach initially, balancing operational accounting execution with strategic oversight. As the department is currently lean, the Manager will work closely with the Senior Finance Executive on day-to-day finance operations while actively improving processes, strengthening internal controls, and supporting the future development of the Finance Department.
This position reports directly to the Directors and will be responsible for leading the Finance Department and building a scalable finance team structure to support the organization's growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full spectrum of accounting and finance functions across multiple business entities.
- Review and ensure timely preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reports, supporting schedules, and reconciliations.
- Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful analysis and recommendations to the Directors.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of accounting records and financial information.
- Coordinate month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
B. Accounting Operations & Execution
- Oversee the complete accounting cycle, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), bank reconciliation, intercompany transaction, fixed assets and cash management.
- Review, oversee, and where necessary participate in the preparation of accounting entries, journals, payment vouchers, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records, supporting schedules, and financial documentation.
- Remain sufficiently hands-on personally investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, reconciliation differences and operational finance issues when required.
- Continuously improve finance workflows and ensure finance operations are carried out efficiently and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
C. Budgeting & Cash Flow Management
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor budget performance and identify opportunities for cost control and process improvement.
- Manage working capital requirements and cash flow planning.
- Coordinate banking facilities and banking-related matters.
- Support the Directors in financial planning and business decision-making.
D. Audit, Taxation & Compliance
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory, taxation, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory obligations.
- Coordinate annual audit exercises and support tax planning initiatives.
E. SOP, Internal Control & Process Improvement
- Develop, review, and enhance Finance Department SOPs, policies, and internal controls.
- Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and reporting accuracy.
- Support digitalization, automation, and system enhancement initiatives within the Finance Department.
- Lead finance process improvement and transformation projects to strengthen operational effectiveness and scalability.
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop the Senior Finance Executive.
- Assess current operational workloads and recommend appropriate manpower requirements to support business growth.
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and development of future finance team members when required.
- Establish clear segregation of duties and effective departmental structures as the Finance Department expands.
- Establish departmental KPIs, performance standards, and accountability measures.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience at Finance Manager, Accounts Manager or equivalent managerial level, with independent ownership of a finance/accounting function.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience managing full-set accounts and month-end/year-end closing.
- This position is intended for an experienced Manager-level candidate and is not designed as a first-time Manager / Assistant Manager-to-Manager transition opportunity.
- Previous experience liaising directly with auditors, tax agents, bankers and company secretaries.
- Proven experience supervising and developing finance/accounting employees.
- This position will regularly communicate and discuss business and finance matters with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
