About the role

EAST FOREMET CONSTRUCTION & ENGINEERING SDN. BHD is seeking a dedicated Construction Surveyor/Site Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, quality and compliance of construction projects from inception through to completion. As a Construction Surveyor/Site Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting precise measurements, monitoring site activities, and maintaining detailed records that are essential to the successful delivery of our construction projects. This role is instrumental in bridging the gap between design specifications and on-site execution, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

Conduct accurate surveying and setting out of construction sites, including establishing control points, boundaries and reference marks

Perform precise measurements and take levels to verify that construction work is executed in accordance with architectural and engineering drawings

Monitor and document the progress of construction activities, including material deliveries, workmanship quality and compliance with specifications

Prepare detailed site survey reports, drawings and as-built documentation to maintain accurate records of project progress

Identify and report any discrepancies, defects or deviations from approved plans to project management and supervising engineers

Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors and other site personnel to resolve surveying issues and ensure clarity on design intent

Utilise surveying equipment and technology including theodolites, GPS units, laser levels and surveying software to collect and analyse data

Maintain comprehensive site records, including daily reports, photographs and measurements for audit and contractual purposes

Assist in quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure all construction work complies with relevant standards and regulations

Support the preparation of variation orders and claims by providing accurate surveying evidence and documentation

What we're looking for

Recognised qualification in surveying, civil engineering or a related field, such as a Diploma or Degree in Construction Surveying, Civil Engineering or equivalent

Professional registration or membership with a relevant surveying body (such as Board of Surveyors Malaysia or equivalent) is advantageous

Minimum of 2-3 years of practical experience as a Construction Surveyor, Site Surveyor or in a similar on-site surveying role

Proficiency in the use of surveying instruments and equipment, including total stations, GPS systems, laser levels and modern surveying software

Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, specifications and quality standards relevant to construction projects

Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate measurements and comprehensive documentation

Proficiency in CAD software and surveying applications for data processing and report generation

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with multidisciplinary teams on site

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy

Physical fitness and willingness to work in various weather conditions and challenging site environments

Knowledge of Malaysian construction regulations, standards and surveying practices

Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving site surveying challenges
