This role involves sourcing and purchasing construction materials, equipment, tools and services according to project requirements, obtaining and comparing supplier quotations, issuing Purchase Orders and following up on orders and deliveries. The role includes sourcing new suppliers, maintaining relationships with existing suppliers, negotiating prices and payment terms, coordinating with multiple teams, monitoring material costs and supply issues, and maintaining procurement records.
Key responsibilities
Source and purchase construction materials, equipment, tools and services according to project requirements
Obtain and compare supplier quotations for management approval
Issue Purchase Orders (PO) and follow up on orders, deliveries and outstanding purchases
Source new suppliers and maintain good relationships with existing suppliers
Negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery arrangements to achieve competitive costs
Coordinate with Project, Site, QS, Contract and Accounts teams on purchasing requirements
Monitor material costs, delivery schedules and potential supply issues
Maintain proper procurement records, quotations, POs, delivery orders and invoices
Assist the Procurement Manager with daily procurement activities and other related duties
About you
Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, Construction Management or related fields
2–4 years of relevant experience in procurement/purchasing, preferably in the construction industry
Experience in dealing with construction material suppliers and subcontractors is an advantage
Good negotiation and communication skills
Able to compare quotations and analyse prices
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Able to work independently, meet deadlines and coordinate with multiple departments
Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin would be an added advantage
