Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a highly organized Purchaser to manage sourcing, procurement of materials, equipment and services for construction projects. You will secure reliable suppliers, issue RFQs, and maintain price comparisons to support management decisions.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the role requires 2–4 years in purchasing, a relevant diploma or degree, and sharp negotiation skills to meet tight project deadlines with integrity.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in SCM, Logistics, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field.
• 2–4 years of purchasing or material sourcing experience, preferably in construction/engineering/hardware trading.
• Sharp negotiation skills, attention to detail, integrity, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Associate Degree/Diploma accepted.

Responsibilities

• Source reliable suppliers, issue RFQs, and prepare price comparison sheets for management review.
• Negotiate prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
• Generate and issue Purchase Orders using internal systems with clearly stated terms.
• Coordinate delivery timelines with site supervisors and project managers to ensure timely arrivals.
• Verify delivery orders and invoices against POs to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain and evaluate an updated database of approved suppliers and subcontractors.

About the Company

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Purchaser to manage the sourcing and supply of construction materials, equipment, and services. In this role, you will be responsible for timely material procurement, vendor management, and cost optimization. Responsibilities

• Sourcing & RFQs: Source reliable suppliers, issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and compile price comparison sheets for management review.
• Negotiation & Cost Control: Negotiate competitive prices, credit terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve maximum cost savings without compromising quality.
• PO Administration: Generate and issue Purchase Orders accurately using internal systems, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly stated.
• Delivery & Logistics Coordination: Coordinate closely with site supervisors and project managers to track delivery timelines and ensure materials arrive on site exactly when needed.
• Invoice Verification: Match delivery orders and invoices against POs to resolve discrepancies in quantity or pricing before passing to the accounts team.
• Vendor Relationship Management: Maintain and evaluate an updated database of approved suppliers and subcontractors based on performance, reliability, and price.

Manager/Team

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in purchasing or material sourcing, preferably within the construction, engineering, or hardware trading sector.
• Sharp negotiation skills, strong attention to detail, high integrity, and the ability to work under tight project deadlines.
• Associate Degree/Diploma (education requirement).
