Nextpower in Mexico City, Mexico is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Project Engineering Team, supporting US and North America markets. You will manage day-to-day structural tasks for foundations of utility-scale PV projects from development through construction.

Responsibilities include wind and seismic analyses, steel sizing, documentation, RFIs, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams across regions.

Formación

• BS in Structural Engineering with emphasis on Foundations; MS a plus.
• Knowledge of international engineering standards (IBC, ASCE, ASTM, AISC, ACI).
• Experience with wind, seismic, dead/live loads and foundation design.
• 3+ years in structural engineering, preferably solar EPC.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) and AutoCAD.
• Finite element software such as RISA/STAAD or equivalent.
• Foundation tools: LPILE, AllPile, Risa Foundation, Staad Foundations, Plaxis.
• English fluency for international projects.

Responsabilidades

• Produce civil/structural design documents including drawings and calculations.
• Review site information, perform calculations, and contribute to cost estimations.
• Perform wind, seismic, and foundation analyses and prepare reports.
• Support construction phase with RFIs and submittals.
• Coordinate with US/India/global offices on standards and tools.
• Manage schedules and review deliverables from consultants.
• Support expansion of Nextpower Design Services team.
• Occasional site visits for Geotech and foundation work.

Nextpower – Structural Engineer

Location: Mexico City, Mexico

Reporting: Manager, Structural Engineering

Work Type: Hybrid - 4 days in office, 1 day remote

About The Role

Nextpower is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Project Engineering Team in Mexico City, Mexico, supporting key accounts across the U.S and North America markets. This position will be responsible for managing day-to-day structural engineering tasks for foundations of utility-scale PV projects from the development phase through construction.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, wind load calculations, steel design, component sizing, foundation sizing, structural tool development and the preparation of structural documentation to support project quoting and engineering packages. The role will involve close coordination with cross-functional teams in the U.S., India, and other global offices including Sales, Project Management, and R&D.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce civil and structural design documentation, including drawings and calculations.
• Support the project development phase by reviewing site information, performing calculations, and contributing to cost estimations.
• Perform structural analyses for wind, seismic, and foundation loads, and prepare corresponding calculations and reports; sign/seal documents if required.
• Provide construction phase support by responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of Nextpower products to support engineering decisions.
• Collaborate with structural/Geotechnical/civil engineers across regions to maintain and update standards, specifications, templates, and design tools.
• Manage schedules and review deliverables from structural and Foundation engineering consultants.
• Support the ongoing development and expansion of Nextpower’s Design Services team.
• Occasional sites visit to supervise Geotech investigations, foundation installation and pile load testing.
• Required Skills/ Expertise:
  • BS in Structural Engineering with emphasis on Foundations. MS in Structural Engineering is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, and other applicable state and federal guidelines, including but not limited to IBC, ASCE, ASTM, AISC, and ACI.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis software (RISA, STAAD, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in advanced modal and dynamic analysis
  • Minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience, preferably in the solar EPC industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in structural design, including dead, live, snow, wind, and seismic loads, as well as steel structure design and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), AutoCAD,
  • Proficiency in foundation tools like LPILE/AllPile, Risa foundation, Staad foundations, Plaxis and other structural analysis tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages is a plus.
  • Self‑motivated team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for renewable energy and solar power is a plus.
  • Fluent English is required to communicate effectively with clients, manage international projects, and produce high‑quality technical documentation.
