Job summary

The Big Job Site is seeking a Medical Assistant - Bilingual Spanish (HIPAA) to provide essential operational, administrative, and clinical support in a medical/behavioral health setting. You will manage patient communications, coordinate care with external providers, verify insurance, and maintain accurate documentation.

This is a remote/independent contractor role with immediate hiring and a focus on high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish with clear spoken communication.
• Experience in a U.S.-based medical, psychiatric, or behavioral health practice.
• Strong written communication and clinical documentation skills.
• In-depth knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and secure handling of PHI.
• Reliable home setup with internet, backup power, and private workspace.
• Willingness to learn new software quickly and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Answer and return patient calls and messages promptly.
• Schedule and confirm appointments; handle rescheduling.
• Complete patient intake and registration follow-up.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Collect copayments and outstanding balances.
• Process medication refill requests per office procedures.
• Coordinate lab orders and results with Quest/Labcorp.
• Send referrals, medical records, and authorizations.
• Follow up with prospective patients and referral sources.
• Assist provider credentialing and general admin tasks.
• Maintain accurate task lists and document communications.
