General Description :

BeOne Medicines is a rapidly growing, global, commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing innovative molecularly targeted and immuno-oncology drugs for the treatment of cancer.

BeOne Medicines is seeking a Director, Senior Legal Counsel to provide legal support in Italy, including legal contract and ad-hoc advice for all the countries mentioned, on a broad array of strategic and tactical projects. The role may also involve support in other markets if workload in Italy allows. The ideal candidate will have prior experience counseling prescription pharmaceutical companies in Italy.

A key responsibility of the Senior Legal Counsel Italy is to act as a legal advisor and business partner to the General Manager (GM) of Italy and the Leadership Team members in those countries.

The position requires native-level Italian language skills and fluency in English. The ideal candidate will have experience counseling prescription drug companies on legal issues in Italy related to the launch of new pharmaceutical products, marketing, promotion, advertising, scientific exchange, and interactions with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities :

  • Attend and actively contribute to discussions and decisions at the Italian Leadership Team meetings, providing sound, highly responsive legal and business support.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Italian healthcare laws and stay updated on evolving legislation and regulations.
  • Advise colleagues on initiatives that align with the company's strategy while managing legal risks and safeguarding integrity and reputation.
  • Provide legal advice on promotion, market access, pricing, reimbursement, social media use, scientific information dissemination, product liability, competition, and other relevant matters.
  • Offer practical legal solutions with a risk-aware mindset, providing sound judgment and common sense.
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of complex contracts.
  • Develop local policies and procedures aligned with regional and global standards to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, fostering collaboration and cultural change.
  • Support internal clients during contract negotiations and train them on legal issues and best practices.
  • Manage external counsel relationships and monitor legal expenditures.
  • Communicate effectively, providing clear guidance and pragmatic solutions to legal and compliance challenges.
  • Generate reports, presentations, and documents for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Participate in special projects across Europe and New Markets regions.
  • Possibly assume managerial responsibilities or budget oversight.

Computer Skills :

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, CTMS, and CMS or similar systems.

Education Required :

Italian law degree with substantial experience advising on Italian pharmaceutical laws.

Experience :

At least 7+ years, ideally with experience in both law firms and in-house roles within the biopharmaceutical industry.

Other Qualifications :

  • Native Italian speaker with fluency in English; additional European languages are advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Italian and European medicines and biopharmaceutical laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including product launches.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and communicate clearly.
  • Detail-oriented with high professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.
