BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) requires a dynamic, enthusiastic and self-driven Project Assistant to support the implementation of its People Policy whose purpose is to establish and maintain a coherent framework for excellence in people management by outlining WFPs workforce vision and commitments and its expectations of employees’ behaviour to each other and the organization.

This role offers excellent professional development opportunity which enables the incumbent to sharpen their organizational knowledge and skills over a wide spectrum of areas (i.e. project management, change management and stakeholder engagement).

This consultancy position will report to Head of Organizational Culture and will provide support to the wider People and Culture Coordination unit (PCC).

MAIN OBJECTIVE

To support the smooth and effective project administration, knowledge management and employee and stakeholder engagement throughout the process of implementing the People Policy.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Head of Organizational Culture and wider PCC team in coordinating key activities under the People Policy implementation plans.
  • Manage the coordination of activities to ensure integration within the PCC unit.
  • Be the knowledge management focal point ensuring accessibility and flow of information materials within the unit.
  • Develop and manage a database for tracking progress on client engagement on People Policy implementation activities for use by the PCC unit and for reporting to management.
  • Drive communication activities, assessments and employee engagement to create more awareness on the WFP values and related activities.
  • Conduct research on related topics.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

The above duties are performed at a satisfactory level making a measurable contribution to the implementation of the People Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education

University degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management or related field.

Advance proficiency in MS Office.

Experience

3 or more years of experience in project management and / or Human Resources Management.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent organisational skills. Can shift priorities, demands and timeline through flexibility and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Self-driven with light level of initiatives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and can research into project related issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of HR function and industry trends is desirable.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet rapid deadlines.
  • Effective written and oral communication with a focus on crisp output.
Languages

Fluency in written and spoken English.
