Job summary

Deel is seeking an Associate Operations Director in Genova, Italy to oversee day-to-day operations, optimize performance, and lead cross-functional initiatives to scale processes and reduce friction in a fast-paced fintech-enabled SaaS environment.

You will drive automation, risk controls, and market-ready readiness for new services while partnering with leadership to define goals, metrics, and roadmaps for operational excellence across regions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of operations experience with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments (Tech/FinTech startup experience a plus).
• Proven track record in leading and scaling large cross-functional teams.
• KPI-driven with a results orientation.
• Experience in building successful products.
• Background in FinTech, management consulting, investment banking, or fast-paced startups.
• Strong problem-solving and detail-oriented mindset.
• High energy and first-principles thinking.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to convert data into actionable insights (SQL a plus).
• Willingness to collaborate and contribute across teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement scalable improvements.
• Lead automation initiatives to reduce manual work and boost speed and accuracy.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance tools and reduce friction in processes.
• Develop and enforce controls for compliance, risk, and security.
• Improve fraud prevention, risk management, and regulatory alignment.
• Define and monitor key risk indicators to address gaps.
• Drive customer-first process improvements and expand self-service options.
• Improve service performance by reducing turnaround times and improving resolution quality.
• Oversee readiness for expansion into new markets or services and coordinate launches.
• Align processes with go-to-market strategies and ensure smooth onboarding and adoption.
• Provide frameworks and resources to enable strong customer outcomes and post-launch optimization.
• Partner with stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives and track outcomes.
• Establish clear goals, metrics, and reporting; act as a strategic partner to leadership.
