Job summary

World Food Programme seeks a Nutrition (Sensitive) Programme and Policy Officer on an international consultant basis in Rome to support the Nutrition and Food Quality Service in integrating nutrition across systems, with focus on household food assistance, social protection and school-based programming.

The consultant will coordinate with SBP, SP teams and partners, develop guidance and tools, contribute to policy dialogues, and help strengthen CSP and country plans, delivering learning products

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience coordinating nutrition and HIV operations with UN agencies or NGOs.
• Strong writing and verbal communication in English; a second language is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination with SBP and SP teams to develop advocacy materials and technical tools, including NSSP business case and training materials.
• Engage with IFIs, including the World Bank, to advance nutrition‑sensitive social protection.
• Identify opportunities to test and disseminate capacity assessment tools and expand the toolkit for COs.
• Contribute to evidence generation and lessons learned on nutrition, HIV and social protection.
• Develop and update corporate guidance for integrating nutrition and HIV into programming and budgeting processes.
• Support country plans, CSPs, and budget revisions to mainstream nutrition across programmes.
• Establish and support a Technical Working Group on nutritional adequacy.
• Coordinate with Fortification team to strengthen linkages between demand and supply for healthy diets.
• Represent WFP in global forums and networks on nutrition and HIV integration.
