Job summary

World Food Programme (WFP) in Rome seeks a Legal Consultant to support the Contractual and Constitutional Law Branch (LEGC). The role requires drafting opinions, contracts, and advisory documents for headquarters, regional and country offices.

You will work with private-sector partners, UN entities, and governments to ensure lawful, prudent operations. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in law or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum three years of legal experience in a private firm or international organization.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French/Spanish is an asset.
• Knowledge of UN policies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal research and analysis on a range of issues to support decisions.
• Draft opinions, background papers, and contract documents.
• Negotiate and prepare agreements with diverse partners and entities.
• Identify liabilities and assist in risk management.
• Support committees and other bodies with legal advice.
• Incorporate gender perspectives in all work.
