Qualifications

• Mandarin fluency for supplier negotiations and liaison with international partners.
• 2–5 years in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Experience in supplier evaluation, selection, negotiation, and relationship management.
• Solid understanding of industrial materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong cost, quality, and delivery analytics to inform purchasing decisions.
• Excellent negotiation skills with focus on cost savings without compromising quality.
• Meticulous attention to order processing, contracts, and documentation.
• Proficient in procurement software, ERP systems, and MS Office.
• Professional procurement certification (APICS or equivalent) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist (Mandarin Speaker) to join PT Sany Heavy Industry Indonesia in Karawang, West Java. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in our procurement operations. As a Purchasing Specialist, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure the efficient and cost-effective procurement of materials and components essential to our manufacturing operations. This position is strategically important to our supply chain management and directly impacts our operational efficiency and product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify potential suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and reliability standards
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to ensure optimal pricing and terms for purchased materials
• Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements with suppliers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions
• Process purchase orders and manage procurement documentation in accordance with company procedures
• Monitor supplier performance through regular communication and performance metrics tracking
• Liaise with manufacturing, quality, and logistics departments to ensure timely delivery of materials
• Manage inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock
• Communicate with suppliers in Mandarin Chinese to facilitate negotiations and establish strong working relationships
• Resolve procurement-related issues and discrepancies with suppliers promptly
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and prepare reports on procurement activities

What we're looking for

• Mandarin Chinese language proficiency: Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with Chinese suppliers and international partners
• Procurement experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry
• Supplier management: Proven experience in supplier evaluation, selection, negotiation, and relationship management
• Technical knowledge: Understanding of industrial materials, components, and manufacturing processes relevant to heavy equipment production
• Analytical skills: Strong ability to analyse costs, quality metrics, and supplier performance data to make informed purchasing decisions
• Negotiation expertise: Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to achieve cost savings whilst maintaining quality standards
• Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail in processing orders, managing contracts, and maintaining documentation
• Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English and Mandarin Chinese
• Problem-solving ability: Capability to identify challenges and implement effective solutions in procurement processes
• Computer proficiency: Competence with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications
• Preferred qualifications: Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (such as APICS or equivalent) would be advantageous
