Job summary

Shanghai Commercial Bank Ltd is seeking an Assistant/Branch Operations Manager in Hong Kong to oversee daily branch operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead the operations team to deliver high-quality service. The role includes relief duties and supporting counter services and back-office administration.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or above with 5+ years in branch operations, and strong people and communication skills in English and Chinese. Hong Kong experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma holder or above.
• At least 5 years of branch operations experience in banking.
• HKSI and IIQE licensing preferred, but not required.
• Strong knowledge of branch operations, compliance and controls.
• Excellent communication in English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
• Proficient in MS Office and able to work independently under pressure.
• Less experience may be considered as Assistant Manager, Branch Operations.

• Cultivate long-term relationships with customers and refer potential business opportunities to branch sales.

Supervise and monitor the daily operations of the branch to ensure compliance with established internal guidelines and regulatory requirements

Lead, coach and motivate the operations team to deliver quality customer service and cross-sell bank products and services

Perform relief duties in branches and assist in overseeing counter services and back office administration to ensure proper service delivery andprocessing

Check and verify various transactions, clearing and account matters

Ensure accurate balances of the counters and the procedural proprietyof all transactions

Perform administrative duties and act as the secondary custodian of international money orders, traveller checks, gift checks, safe deposit box and other transactional products, including ATM card, credit card, deposits, gold bar/coin, remittance, etc.

Monitor service performance of counter service staff and provide appropriate assistance whenever required

Cultivate long-term relationship with customers and refer potential business opportunities to branch sales

Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

Diploma holder or above

Minimum 5 years of branch operations experience in the banking industry preferably with supervisory experience

Passes in HKSI & IIQE licensing examinations preferred, but not a must

Sound knowledge of branch operations, with good compliance and control sense

Strong people and communication skills

Detail-oriented, and able to work independently and under pressure

Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, including Putonghua

Proficient in MS Office applications including Chinese word processing
