We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Principal Planning Officer to join our team.

Charnwood is in the heart of the East Midlands, home to 184,000 residents and a rich mix of market towns and picturesque conservation villages. Centrally located between Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester, our main town, Loughborough, offers excellent connectivity and a vibrant community.

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced planning professional to join our Local Plans team at a pivotal time. With our Local Plan nearing adoption, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of Charnwood through:

• Developing and implementing planning policies
• Supporting the preparation of Supplementary Planning Documents
• Contributing to the creation of a Borough-wide Design Code and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
• You will need a full UK driving licence as you will be traveling throughout the Borough and may be using your own transport.

• Proven experience in handling complex planning policy matters
• Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders and partner organisations
• A degree in Town and Country Planning
• Full membership of the RTPI
