The Role: We are seeking a dedicated and personable Live-in Guesthouse Supervisor/Housekeeper to join our team at Newton House, a charming 14-bedroom Victorian townhouse welcoming guests from around the world. Newton House has been family-owned for over 40 years. Recently refurbished to a high standard, the guesthouse offers a warm and comfortable stay just a short walk from the historic and vibrant centre of Oxford.
- Housekeeping: Clean and prepare guest rooms and public areas to a high standard.
- Laundry: Wash, dry, and manage linen and towels to meet daily requirements.
- Reception Duties: Manage online booking system and guest queries.
- Answer calls, respond to emails, and manage guest enquiries and bookings (once trained).
- Supervision: Oversee and coordinate housekeeping staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the expected standard.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all hygiene, safety, and fire regulations.
- Guest Experience: Maintain a positive, friendly, and professional atmosphere that reflects the long-standing reputation of Newton House.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to take a hands-on approach.
- Excellent housekeeping skills and attention to detail.
- A good command of spoken and written English.
- Confident using computer-based booking systems (training provided).
- Ability to supervise and work collaboratively with other staff members.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety practices in a hospitality setting.
- Previous experience in hospitality, housekeeping, or reception work is desirable but not essential.
- Comfortable live-in accommodation provided as part of the role.
