Overview:

The Electrician is experienced in industrial or institutional wiring, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting. This individual installs, maintains, and repairs wiring systems, circuits, electrical fixtures, and electrical equipment using schematics, diagrams, and blueprints. Responsibilities include conducting operational tests of electrical systems, following operational and departmental guidelines, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Mission Essential personnel. Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, or on call as required.

Education

• High School Diploma or Trade School (Required)

Certification/Licensure

• Valid driver's license (NC or VA) (Required)
• Journeyman's license to be obtained by the end of the first year

Experience

• Some facilities may require Master Electrician (MELE)
• At least 1 year of post-secondary/vocational training in electrical theory, circuitry, codes, and troubleshooting, including courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, electrical theory, and electrical work
• Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and Statewide Building Code
• Journeyman's Electrician's License must be attained by the end of the first year of employment in Virginia
