Job description
Overview

The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford’s purpose is to have a global impact by fundamentally reimagining the way science and technology translate into end-to-end solutions and delivering these solutions in programmes and platforms that respond to humanity’s most challenging problems.

EIT Oxford will ensure scientific discoveries and pioneering science are turned into products for the benefit of society that can have high-impact worldwide and, over time, be commercialised to ensure long-term sustainability.

Led by a world-class faculty of scientists, technologists, policy makers, economists and entrepreneurs, the Ellison Institute of Technology aims to develop and deploy commercially sustainable solutions to solve some of humanity’s most enduring challenges. Our work is guided by four Humane Endeavours: Health, Medical Science & Generative Biology, Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Change & Managing Atmospheric CO2 and Artificial Intelligence & Robotics.

Set for completion in 2027, the EIT Campus in Littlemore will include more than 300,000 sq ft of research laboratories, educational and gathering spaces. Fuelled by growing ambition and the strength of Oxford’s science ecosystem, EIT is now expanding its footprint to a 2 million sq ft Campus across the western part of The Oxford Science Park. Designed by Foster + Partners led by Lord Norman Foster, this will become a transformative workplace for up to 7,000 people, with autonomous laboratories, purpose-built laboratories including a plant sciences building and dynamic spaces to spark interdisciplinary collaboration.

EIT Oxford is committed to cultivating a community where excellence is achieved through collaboration, trust, innovation and tenacity. We foster an environment where everyone’s experience and expertise are valued. We are curious and resilient in our efforts to drive long-term, sustainable innovation to meet humanity’s most enduring challenges.

Role

Reporting to the IT Director, EIT are seeking a highly skilled IT Project Manager to lead, coordinate, and oversee all IT-related elements of multiple fit-out projects as part of the creation of a new campus. This role is central to ensuring that technology infrastructure and services are seamlessly integrated into the design, construction, and operationalisation of new spaces. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and technology vendors to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready IT solutions aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of IT components across multiple campus fit-out projects.
  • Act as primary liaison between IT, construction teams, architects, facilities, and contractors.
  • Ensure IT requirements are embedded from design through to operational handover.
  • Oversee installation of infrastructure: structured cabling, networking, AV, security, and smart building technologies.
  • Develop and maintain IT-specific project plans, RAID logs, issue resolution tracking and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Partner and engage with senior leadership, end-users, technical teams and other business stakeholders to capture requirements and translate into actionable plans.
  • Manage external vendors and suppliers to ensure technical and contractual compliance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and service continuity.
  • Ensure quality control and validation of IT systems prior to handover.
  • Lead testing, commissioning, and documentation of IT systems before occupancy.
  • Support smooth transition to business-as-usual operations, including training and knowledge transfer.
  • Conduct and manage post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager in large-scale construction or campus development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure: networking, AV, security systems, data centres, and end-user tech.
  • Familiarity with smart building technologies and modern workspace integration.
  • Excellent vendor and contract management skills, including procurement and negotiation.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership capabilities.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and demands effectively.
  • Clear and concise communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adaptable to shifting business priorities and able to adjust plans accordingly in an evolving, scaling environment.
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 (dependent on experience), plus bonus & travel allowance
  • Enhanced holiday pay
  • Pension
  • Life Assurance
  • Income Protection
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Hospital Cash Plan
  • Therapy Services
  • Perk Box
  • Electric Car Scheme
