Job Title: Machining Maintenance Team Leader
Salary: £35,400 - £42,950 (dependent on experience)
Location: Peterborough

Additional Information: Multiple shift patterns available (shift premiums apply)

The Opportunity

A vacancy has arisen for a Maintenance Team Leader within the Machining Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to progress along the maintenance career path, with potential advancement to Section Manager.

The ideal candidate is a skilled maintenance technician with leadership qualities in an Agility-controlled environment, possessing excellent communication, organization, planning, and interpersonal skills.

What You Will Do

• Identify and implement efficiency improvements
• Monitor and improve shop floor safety, eliminate unsafe processes
• Ensure fixtures, tooling, and processes meet production schedules
• Prioritize and sequence jobs effectively
• Manage constrained resources and adjust staffing as needed
• Handle disciplinary actions appropriately
• Ensure preventive maintenance is performed on schedule
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other improvement initiatives
• Lead workforce training and development
• Deploy section value stream improvements
• Practice CPS Guiding Principles
• Initiate process improvement dialogues
• Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects
• Report and monitor section metrics
• Create, implement, and train standard work procedures
• Achieve 5S targets in maintenance areas
• Lead improvement projects

What You Have

• Ability to fault find electrical, controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
• Experience with PLC-related machinery
• Experience with planned preventive maintenance, managed via the Agility system
• Act as the lead contact with Production & Engineering to ensure equipment availability

People

• Lead maintenance support during shifts for production operations
• Deliver briefings and document issues for handover
• Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
• Ensure safe working practices and maintain relevant documentation

Quality

• Ensure tasks are completed on time and to high standards
• Maintain 5S standards and organized work areas
• Investigate quality issues logically and systematically
• Knowledge of Quality Control Systems is a plus

Velocity

• Sense of urgency and flexibility to support production
• Proactive in addressing machine failures and using data to improve OEE
• Support process improvements and change activities
• Prioritize tasks effectively

Cost

• Manage spend within budget and lead cost-saving initiatives
• Utilize and control spare parts systems

Top Candidates Will Also Have

• NVQ Level 3 / apprenticeship or equivalent
• Experience with PLC, electrical, electronics, Fanuc Robotics, fault diagnostics
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge
• Mechanical machinery experience
• Leadership skills
• Maintenance background
• Health & Safety procedures experience
