DESCRIPTION

AWS is seeking a talented Principal Engineer focused on DevOps / SRE / Systems Development Engineering to join our dynamic Region Services team in the UK, based in London. This role involves implementing innovative cloud computing solutions and solving complex technical challenges to shape the future of cloud infrastructure. AWS builds and manages some of the world's largest internet infrastructures, providing scalable web services in the cloud, including compute, storage, and database resources.

Utility Computing (UC)

AWS UC provides foundational and innovative services like S3 and EC2, supporting diverse AWS products including security solutions for cloud services.

Key job responsibilities

1. Support and guide the department in preparations for bringing the ADC online, focusing on operational activity measurement, process adoption, automation, and quality improvement.
2. Post-initial phase (2026), understand customer needs, develop new features, and design capabilities based on customer feedback, involving requirements gathering, design, and development.

Additional responsibilities include defining operational frameworks, mentoring engineers, fostering relationships with US teams, and promoting Amazon’s culture.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with complex distributed systems
• Excellent coding skills and mentorship abilities
• Expertise in systems design, both single component and distributed

• Experience in large-scale, complex, or regulated industries
• Start-up experience is advantageous
