We're now looking for a Youth Personal Advisor to join our Essex Work Ready service - a compassionate, motivated professional who is passionate about supporting young adults with mental health needs to re-engage with learning, employment and the wider community. This is a frontline, people-focused role where your work will have real, visible impact on young lives across Essex.
- Deliver personalised, strengths-based 1-to-1 support to young adults aged 16-26 with Severe Mental Illness (SMI)
- Build trust and rapport with young people who may have disengaged from services
- Support young people to identify goals, aspirations and next steps through structured action planning
- Provide practical support to progress into education, employment, training or work-readiness activity
- Deliver trauma-informed, youth-centred and recovery-focused support
Partnership & Integrated Working
- Work closely with CAMHS, Secondary Mental Health Teams, Early Intervention Psychosis services, ARMS and youth organisations
- Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to coordinated support planning
- Promote the Essex Work Ready service within local referral networks
- Maintain professional information-sharing and partnership standards
Outreach Delivery Across Essex
- Deliver support flexibly across Greater Essex, including Southend and Thurrock
- Meet young people in safe, accessible community settings, youth venues and partner locations
- Adapt your approach to suit different engagement needs and environments
- Work independently and collaboratively while following lone-working procedures
Performance & Outcomes
- Work to engagement, progression and outcome targets
- Support the achievement of education, employment and training outcomes
- Contribute to employment engagement and opportunity development
- Maintain accurate, timely and compliant case notes and reporting
- Support delivery of contractual KPIs
Safeguarding, Risk & Wellbeing
- Identify, manage and escape safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Work within risk-management and lone-working procedures
- Promote wellbeing-first and psychologically informed practice
Co-Production & Youth Voice
- Encourage young people to shape their support and goals
- Gather feedback to inform service improvement and learning

Qualifications
- Experience working with young people or vulnerable groups
- Ability to build trust, rapport and positive relationships
- Experience in employability, youth work, mentoring, education or mental health support
- Understanding of barriers faced by young people with mental health needs
- Ability to work to performance expectations and outcomes
- Strong communication and partnership-working skills
