A community support organization in York and North Yorkshire is seeking a Female Personal Assistant to assist a young woman with health and care needs, including personal care and social support. The role requires good communication skills, reliability, and moving and handling experience, working 20 hours weekly with a pay rate of £14.70 per hour. The Job: The aim of the job is to provide support and assistance to a young woman, who lives within the family home, with her health and care needs, physical, postural, and visual difficulties. The young woman is a permanent wheelchair user and has Epilepsy. The young woman is very sociable, friendly and has good communication skills. The young woman enjoys and participates in weekly work leisure, social and learning activities. You will be employed by the young woman and become part of a small established team, with a Senior Personal Assistant; providing 2:1 support for all moving and handling tasks. Additional 2:1 sleepover support may also be required for 2/3 days of annual family holiday, short breaks and a monthly sleepover. As a Personal Assistant you will provide support and assistance to enable the employer to be safely involved and as independent as possible.
The young woman is looking for an experienced Female Personal Assistant who is friendly and approachable with a good sense of humour and a can-do, encouraging attitude. They must be reliable, trustworthy, and punctual. It is vital that you have good communication and listening skills. A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations are essential. The ability to undertake moving and handling duties throughout the day is a requirement of the role. Moving and handling experience is required, although training will be provided. As there is the use of a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, a driver is preferred. Non-smoker.
Experience: Personal Assistant/Support worker 1 Year
This post is for 20 hours per week. Shifts to be varied, worked on a rota, full or half days across Monday to Sunday. Days and times are to be arranged with the employer. Alternate weekends, including day, afternoon and evening shifts.
The post is subject to a DBS Check and satisfactory references. The cost of the DBS check will be met by the Employer.
