Job description

Christ the King College, an Isle of Wight's successful 11 to 18 Christian High School, is seeking an exceptional and dedicated Year Group Leader to join our team. Rooted in our motto, Via Veritas Vita (The Way, The Truth, The Life), we aspire to live, learn, and work together in a supportive faith-based environment.

The Year Group Leader is a crucial position in our College and is responsible for the overall pastoral care of an allocated year group. You will organise and deliver pastoral support to students to ensure high levels of attendance, punctuality, behaviour for learning, and academic progress.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Enforcing high expectations for conduct and behaviour.
  • Monitoring and driving improved attendance and punctuality.
  • Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead as required.
  • Providing specific pastoral support during key transition points, such as moving from primary school (Year 7), making GCSE choices (Year 9), and Post-16 decisions (Year 11).

We are looking for a committed team player with a flexible and positive approach.

You must have:

  • Appropriate qualifications, including GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • Experience of working with young people or in an educational/public service environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively.
  • A friendly, supportive attitude towards students and staff, and a commitment to working in sympathy with the ethos and aims of Christ the King College.

If you are enthusiastic about education, committed to safeguarding, and ready to make a significant impact on our students' well-being and success, we encourage you to apply.

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. These posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicants will be expected to undertake enhanced DBS checks.

Please be aware that we can only accept applications from overseas candidates who have the Right to Work in the UK.
