Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller for a well-established bodyshop group in Burgess Hill. You will oversee daily workshop operations and lead a busy team, ensuring high quality repairs and customer satisfaction.

The role offers a 45-hour week, Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturdays on a rota, a supportive management team, and opportunities to develop staff within a friendly, family-run environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Workshop Controller or supervisory role in automotive industry (preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication skills to motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop.
  • Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily workshop operations and ensure high standards of quality control.
  • Lead and motivate workshop staff, setting daily/weekly targets for timely repairs.
  • Conduct morning toolbox meetings to coordinate activities and priorities.
  • Liaise with parts departments and external clients (dealerships/ARC) to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workshop environment per health and safety standards.
  • Drive productivity to meet or exceed monthly targets and production goals.
  • Utilise basic IT systems and spreadsheets to track workflow and reporting.

Are you an experienced Workshop Controller seeking a new challenge within a respected, family-oriented business? Our client, a well-established bodyshop group based in Burgess Hill, is actively seeking a dedicated Workshop Controller to oversee daily workshop operations. This Workshop Controller role provides an excellent platform for professionals from any automotive sector with leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills - bodyshop knowledge is not essential.

  • Competitive salary of up to £42,120 per annum, with bonus potential earning an OTE of approximately £49,320
  • 45-hour working week with flexible hours, Monday to Friday
  • Only one in four Saturday mornings required on a rota basis, supporting work-life balance

Duties:
  • Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of quality control

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Workshop Controller or in a similar supervisory role within an automotive environment; Car Dealership Controllers are encouraged to apply
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills focused on efficiency and quality
  • Good communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a workshop setting
