A leading ICT Recruitment Consultancy is seeking a Wintel SME/Field Engineer for full-time on-site work in the UK. Job description

INSIDE IR35 FULL TIME ON-SITE

We are looking for an experienced Wintel SME/Field Engineer to work in Wokingham for 4 weeks and Warwick for another 4 weeks.

Role responsibilities:

• Attend client sites in Warwick and Wokingham.
• Provide hands‑on support as part of infrastructure and system rollouts.
• Liaise with on‑site contacts to ensure smooth operation and communication.
• Use provided laptop to follow scripted configuration steps and execute documented procedures with precision.
• Maintain logs of changes made and any unexpected issues encountered.
• Perform basic connectivity tests (ping) and verify successful implementation of configuration via standard network testing tools.
• Provide basic troubleshooting if ping tests fail and, if necessary, escalating to higher support.
• Support ongoing infrastructure improvement initiatives.
• Provide feedback to engineering leads on process efficiency and documentation clarity.
• Contribute to the knowledge base by documenting lessons learned on site.

Qualifications and technical knowledge:

• Basic networking knowledge: switch connectivity, IP addressing, subnetting, default gateways, cable types, port roles, basic switch diagnostics.
• Foundational Wintel infrastructure knowledge.
• Exposure to Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019).
• Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, and standard Windows tools.
• Ability to identify cable types, port roles, and perform basic diagnostics.

Additional requirements:

• Security clearance: Successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment, which can take up to a minimum of 10 weeks.
• High level security clearance experience is preferred.
