A leading higher education institution in Bristol is seeking a Widening Access Officer to support student recruitment through designing and delivering impactful activities. This role involves visiting schools, managing activities, and creating strong relationships in educational settings. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Full-time with fixed-term contract until August 2026, offering a dynamic work environment on campus with some work-from-home opportunities.
Getting the right applicants enrolled on the right course is key to all activities undertaken by the department and crucial in a competitive marketplace.
As a Widening Access Officer you will support the recruitment of students to the University through the design, coordination and delivery of a portfolio of targeted and progressive widening access activities, designed to equip potential students with knowledge of higher education and potential pathways and to support their progression, self‑awareness and self‑belief.
We are looking for someone who can deliver activities as well as coordinate them. You will be expected to visit schools and colleges to deliver engaging activities, proactively plan a calendar of activities with schools and colleges, manage enquiries and shape provision to meet demand, undertake and allocate administrative tasks.

You will also be available to work flexibly out of hours (evenings and weekends) to support events and activities within the team, e.g. open days, taster days, student conferences, campus visits, recruitment fairs, Confirmation and Clearing etc.

This is a full‑time, fixed term post until August 2026 working 37 hours per week.
