A leading defence technology company in Bristol is seeking an engineer to contribute to the development of directed energy weapon systems. The ideal candidate will own hardware system definitions and lead integration with software. Required skills include experience in electrical equipment development and strong stakeholder management. Overview

An exciting opportunity to join a cutting-edge defence technology programme, contributing to the development of world-class directed energy weapon systems.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver performance-focused sub-systems for integration within larger weapon system architectures.
  • Own the physical definition, certification, and acceptance of hardware systems.
  • Produce and maintain technical and certification documentation to required standards.
  • Support the integration of functional software with complex hardware subsystems.
  • Engage with and manage third-party suppliers, defining technical statements of work and deliverables.
  • Operate across the early lifecycle of projects, clarifying stakeholder needs and influencing technical direction.
  • Lead technical work packages, balancing progress against risks in collaboration with project managers.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven background in developing complex electrical equipment or subsystems.
  • Strong understanding of assembly, integration, test, and certification processes.
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and build strong stakeholder relationships.
