An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 7 Ward Manager / Senior Sister on the Elective Surgical Unit at Dewsbury District Hospital, that comprises of ward 12 and Boothroyd day care. Applications are welcome from an innovative, dynamic and motivated nurse leader. We are looking to appoint a confident, passionate lead with excellent communication skills who portrays professionalism and is an active role model. The post holder will share the role of leading and managing an 18 bedded area of elective surgical patients. The ward comprises of both inpatient, day case and level one patients requiring elective surgery in specialities such as general surgery, urology, gynaecology, plastics and OMFS.
You will have proven leadership and management skills and have the knowledge and ability to manage patients surgical patients, supporting and empowering the nursing team with skills and competencies. The ward manager is the figure head and professional lead for the area. Ensuring that the ward achieves, maintains and upholds the Trusts standards . The post holder will be responsible for managing the staff including e-roster, holidays and sickness. The responsibilities include managing governance RADAR compliance and complaints, key performance indicators, infection control ward audits. You will provide compassionate leadership to your team and support the Matron in the delivery of changing priorities for the delivery of the service within the ward area and the surgical division.
The Band 7 Senior Sister / Unit Manager will be the clinical expert and professional resource to the multi-Professional team, patients, and carers within the elective Surgical Unit.
The post holder should have previous experience in caring for surgical patient, or willing to undertake competencies, to enable the post holder to lead the team.
The post holder will take overall responsibility to develop the specialist area of practice in partnership with other members of the speciality team (Lead Clinicians Matron, Patient Services Manager etc,) will work collaboratively to develop services and quality of care delivered.
The post holder will manage and lead the team in the development and delivery of a programme of practice and professional development for staff within the speciality. This will be achieved through working in partnership with lead clinicians, managers, and matrons.
