Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Cambridge is seeking a Ward Clerk for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A vacancy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a friendly, adaptable, and well‑organised person to join our multi‑disciplinary team to work on our busy Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a Ward Clerk. Well‑developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Previous experience in a hospital environment would be an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Provide efficient and effective clerical support within the Neonatal Unit.
  • Act as the first point of contact on the ward for staff, patients and visitors, face to face or over the telephone.
  • Input information onto the EPIC system.
  • Be responsible for the administrative admission of all babies to the ward.
  • Filing and sorting patient notes as required, ensuring adherence to clinical governance policies and procedures.
  • Return notes and documents no longer required on the Unit to Medical Records, ensuring that all necessary documentation/filing has been completed.
  • Emailing or phoning out transfers and discharges as necessary.
  • Support the ward security by screening visitors to the ward via the ward entry and exit system.
Working Hours

Shift work on a rota basis — 07:45 am to 20:15 pm, including weekends and Bank Holidays.

  • Experience in a hospital environment (advantageous but not mandatory).
