A local veterinary practice in Cornwall seeks a part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join their welcoming team. The role involves managing your own caseload while consulting with clients and performing routine surgeries. The practice assures a supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth, including funded certifications. The position offers a competitive salary up to £60,000 FTE and various employee perks. Working hours are 2-3 days a week, with a shared Saturday rota of just 1 in 4 Saturdays.
Are you a small animal vet keen to develop your skills within a growing practice, whilst also working in the beautiful county of Cornwall?
The practice is run locally by Raul who in turn is supported by a team of 3 additional vets as well as a very supportive and experienced nurse team with over 50 years’ experience between them, our longstanding and experienced practice manager Tracey and a brilliant team of client care advisors.
Raul qualified from Cordoba in Spain before moving to the UK in 2007 and becoming the owner of Camborne Vets4Pets in 2016. Raul holds an AVP certificate in surgery, with special interest in orthopaedics and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery so there’s always plenty of opportunity to learn and develop your own skills, which we fully encourage and support.
Set in a central location to local amenities, transport routes and much more, the practice benefits from having its own parking as well as being a spacious, well set out environment, purpose built to deliver the highest clinical standards. The facilities are excellent, giving you access to all the equipment you need to care for your patients.
We already have a loyal client base with the potential for further growth, and cases can be worked up locally giving you the opportunity to develop any specific interests you have, with certification encouraged and fully funded.
We see a variety of cases and you’ll own your own caseload with the freedom to investigate, with lots of support from the rest of the team. Consults are given 15 minutes as standard, unless we’re quieter or more time is needed when we can book 30 minutes instead. There’s always time to catch up on admin throughout the day, time for a lunch break and regular clinical meetings too.
As a growing team, this position is full time 2-3 days a week allowing you to achieve a good balance between home and work, with no OOH and a shared Saturday rota of just 1 in 4 Saturdays 9am-12.30pm.
In joining our team and supporting a great community and client base, we are looking for a good all-rounder capable in consults and routine surgery. You’ll already have experience working in a small animal GP practice in the UK and therefore also be a great communicator and enjoy building relationships with patients, clients and the wider team!
And there’s more! While the job itself offers an exceptional level of career satisfaction; it is possibly the location of this practice that is one of the main selling points. Camborne Vets for Pets is surrounded by wonderful scenery and some of the best beaches in the country within 15-20 minutes’ drive.
Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
