An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and driven Veterinary Surgeon to join a brand‑new, state‑of‑the‑art 24‑hour hospital in Northamptonshire.

Situated in the heart of a historic market town in central England, this thriving location offers the perfect blend of heritage and modern living. The town boasts a vibrant and diverse centre, excellent sporting facilities, outstanding local schools, and a welcoming community feel. With London and Birmingham both less than an hour away by train, and stunning countryside and country parks right on the doorstep, this is an ideal location for both work and lifestyle.

The Team

The hospital is home to a fantastic team of over 80 dedicated professionals, creating a truly collaborative and supportive working environment. No one works in isolation here — there’s always someone to turn to when challenges arise. The highly experienced and nurturing nursing team is a particular strength of the practice, with many team members having progressed internally from ACA/VCA/SVN roles and continuing to develop their careers long‑term.

The Hospital

This is a purpose‑built, modern veterinary hospital, designed by vets for vets after outgrowing its previous premises. The 24‑hour facility is equipped with cutting‑edge technology and exceptional amenities, including:

  • CT scanner
  • Digital X‑ray
  • Endoscopy and laparoscopy equipment
  • Ultrasound
  • Fully equipped sterile theatre with piped gas
  • Excellent staff welfare facilities

Everything has been thoughtfully designed to support high‑quality patient care and a positive working experience.

About the Practice

Established in the 1960s, the practice has grown into a respected and well‑known group with five large branch surgeries and a central 24‑hour hospital, providing outstanding veterinary care across Northamptonshire and South Leicestershire.

People and pets sit firmly at the heart of everything they do. The friendly, highly qualified team is committed to supporting colleagues in developing their skills within a collaborative, progressive environment. Outside of work, the team enjoys a strong social culture, with regular events such as Christmas parties, summer BBQs, Easter egg hunts, and charity fundraising activities that help build lasting connections.

The Role

This role offers the opportunity to become part of a genuinely supportive team where clinical expertise is valued and encouraged. Whether the successful candidate is newly qualified and keen to build confidence following VetGDP, or an experienced vet looking to explore clinical interests, tailored support and development are actively provided.

Vets are encouraged to work up and follow their own cases, supported by excellent facilities and resources that enable thorough diagnostics and gold‑standard care.

  • Full‑time or part‑time hours available, with flexibility and open discussion around preferred working patterns
  • No out‑of‑hours duties — covered by a dedicated OOH team, supporting excellent work‑life balance
  • Weekend rota of 1:8 daytimes only (Saturday and Sunday), plus an additional 1:8 short shift on either day
  • Time off in lieu for weekend shifts worked
Benefits Package (Pro Rata)
  • Competitive salary of £40,000–£70,000 DOE
