Job description

Southfields Veterinary Specialists are seeking to recruit a full-time radiographer, or registered veterinary nurse trained in advanced imaging acquisition, to work in the diagnostic imaging department of our newly-built specialist veterinary hospital in Essex. The role will involve all aspects of imaging, with particular focus on MRI, CT and radiography.

We are very proud of our specially designed diagnostics suite, which features:

  • High-field Siemens Magnetom Sola MRI scanner (1.5 Tesla)
  • Multislice Siemens Somatom go.all CT scanner (64-slice configuration)
  • Two x-ray rooms, including combined digital radiography and fluoroscopy
  • Mobile x-ray machine
  • Fluoroscopy unit for contrast studies and interventional procedures (C-Arm)
  • Two ultrasound rooms
  • Portable ultrasound machine for critical patients
  • Video Endoscopy
  • Cardiology room with cardiology Vivid E95 ultrasound machine
  • Imaging reading room
  • Room for patient preparation and recovery

The successful applicant will work alongside our dedicated imaging team, consisting of three EBVS European specialists in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, two experienced Diagnostic Imaging clinicians, four Diagnostic Imaging nurses and a Diagnostic Imaging patient care assistant. The role will include acquisition of MR, CT and radiograph studies, overseeing all aspects of radiation and MR health and safety requirements, maintenance of the machines and out of hours duties. It is a hands‑on role and requires routine interactions with patients, so a love of animals is essential. Training will be provided where necessary.

Vitally, the successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, both within the imaging team, as well as the wider hospital, to contribute towards an optimised diagnostic imaging service delivery.
