Job summary

A leading automotive recruitment agency is seeking a Vehicle Technician (Customer Oriented Engineering) to conduct evaluations and maintain test vehicles in Cranfield. The ideal candidate should have a City & Guilds or BTEC Level 3 qualification in mechanical or automotive engineering, alongside a UK driving licence. Vehicle Technician (Customer Oriented Engineering) (0996) - £19.67/hr PAYE rate

What You Will Do:
  • Conduct both static and dynamic evaluations of vehicles to ensure they meet the needs of European customers.
  • Assemble and disassemble vehicle parts and components for testing, ensuring all activities align with company standards.
  • Maintain and prepare the test vehicle fleet, including safety checks, retrofits, fault‑finding, and repairs.
  • Set up instrumentation, such as data loggers and video cameras, to support testing activities.
  • Collaborate with Test and Design Engineers to conduct tests and gather accurate and high‑quality data.
  • Support report writing and learn bespoke systems to enhance your contribution to the team.
What You Will Bring:
  • Ideally, a City & Guilds or BTEC Level 3 qualification in mechanical or automotive engineering, with a recognised apprenticeship.
  • A fundamental understanding of vehicle architecture and the ability to fault‑find on vehicle systems.
  • Experience within vehicle or component test environments is preferred but not essential.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • A FULL UK manual/automatic driving licence and a passion for automotive performance and technologies.
