Job Purpose

The post-holder will provide strategic leadership in digital access to the Library’s unique and distinctive collections in order to maximise the potential for research, learning and knowledge exchange locally, nationally and internationally.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Articulate and deliver an ambitious vision for collections discovery and access.

Develop and progress a roadmap based on expectations of system and service users, interpreting the potential of the technology and a deep understanding of the University’s information landscape.

Play a key role in the development of a comprehensive digital library infrastructure. Lead, support and develop the co-ordination of Archives and Special Collection’s (ASC) collection management ecosystem taking account of key relationships across the University and beyond.

Develop and implement a digital access strategy and policy, identifying opportunities to deliver the University’s unique content online to a global audience.

Lead, support and develop staff, ensuring professional standards and quality assured outputs.

Develop and support digital humanities partnerships centred around ASC collections, leveraging professional expertise.

Develop networks and engage with key stakeholders in collection discovery, internally across teams and Colleges, and externally through strategic partnerships and funding opportunities.

Represent the University at national and international conferences and meetings. Proactively participate in external professional networks and initiatives with colleagues in wider Higher Education sector.

As a member of ASC Senior Management Team continue to develop an engaged and effective team to deliver high quality services to the University community and beyond.
