Here’s what you’ll do:
We are looking for a field technician to join our buried utility survey team. You would be working supporting and learning from utility surveyors, working alongside a STATs team, geophysicists, topographical surveyors, GI and pavements teams, across projects supporting Power, Highways, Rail, Aviation, Water, Environment and Defence sectors. The role is based out of our Nottingham Office. You will join a team of like-minded experts with a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions. We are involved in conceptualisation and creation of spaces that define skylines and communities and contribute to a sustainable future through engineering projects that make a difference to our environment. About Our Team: Our Buried Utilities team operates across all sectors of the engineering industry, primarily in the UK, with teams on-site globally. We work under RAM (Rail Asset Management), which includes cross-discipline teams like Geophysics, GI and Geospatial Engineering. We are based primarily in Nottingham with equipment, fleet and laboratory facilities to support field operations. Our projects typically form small but crucial parts of major infrastructure projects, providing in-house surveys and investigations, management of contractors, and specialist advice with an emphasis on collaboration to suit client needs.
Your primary role will be to support experienced utility surveyors in undertaking buried utility and utility avoidance surveys to PAS128 standards in compliance with AECOM guidance. You would undergo training to perform tasks and learn under the guidance of existing surveyors, performing site operations across the UK as part of a broader team. This would be balanced with office work, potentially including learning to produce operational paperwork, data interpretation, CAD, and written reports, as well as supporting other teams where required. You would be expected to work towards and attain the position of utility survey lead through development of key skills and achievement of technical and operational goals, providing continued growth for you and for us as you progress your career.
