Utility Service Technician

Contract: Cheshire East Highways

Location: Crewe

Contract Type: Permanent

Join Our Team as a Utility Services Technician! Ringway Jacobs is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Utility Services Technician to become part of our Construction Team in Cheshire. In this vital role, you’ll work closely with the Construction Team Leader to plan, support, and deliver high-quality underground service location activities. You’ll play a key part in ensuring all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with CEH health and safety policies — helping us maintain the highest standards across CEH and SCP operations.

The Role
  • Providing support to all teams in the location of and avoidance of underground services.
  • Survey and produce simple drawings showing the locations of services for use by the operational teams.
  • Provide advice to operational teams following surveys, in the safe methods to be utilised for excavations.
  • Assist operatives in the tracing of utility plant.
  • Train operatives in the effective use of cable detection equipment & techniques and in the understanding of public utility plans and drawings.
About You
  • A current, valid driving licence is essential.
  • Utility Services experience detecting underground services desirable.
  • New Roads and Street works or NHSS 12 training and qualifications would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience in the use of handheld technology (PDAs, Smartphones, etc) would be advantageous but not essential. Local knowledge of the county would be beneficial.
  • Works towards Lantra accreditation (Location and Avoidance of Underground Apparatus).
