Overview

Logistics done differently. We are recruiting for a Transport Shift Manager on the Day Shift on a Fixed Term Contract covering maternity for our Beeston site (near Nottingham). You will lead the busy operation, ensuring the daily transport plan is executed safely, legally and on time. The role is on a 4 on 4 off cycle, day shift from 6am to 6pm. Reporting directly to the Transport Manager, this position manages the transport operation, ensures customer requirements are met and company policies and procedures are followed. You will support the Transport Manager and the contract in developing site and company procedures and ensuring customer service levels remain high and site teams are managed effectively. You will be responsible for day-to-day management of the transport team in line with company policies and procedures.

What you’ll do

• Manage a team of drivers across various shifts.
• Manage and oversee the transport operation.
• Maintain daily interaction with the management team for our customer.
• Support the planning of the weekly workload and organise staff shifts to ensure all runs are covered in a cost‑effective and efficient manner.
• Oversee the execution of the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, with attention to available resources on site and keeping the customer updated.
• Ensure all processes and procedures are followed and that we operate in a safe and efficient environment.
• Carry out timely and accurate investigations into safety incidents.
• Provide leadership and guidance for the team and deliver accurate KPIs internally and to the customer.

What you’ll need

• Essential: Experience working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
• Essential: Experience in a Transport Shift Management position, managing drivers and office staff.
• Essential: Ability to support and encourage a strong team ethos and ensure stakeholders communicate effectively to achieve business objectives.
• Desirable: Experience in a Trade Union environment.
• Desirable: Working knowledge of Transport Legislation / Working Time Directive / Drivers hours.
• Desirable: CPC in National road Haulage.
