Job summary

A logistics company in Normanton seeks a Transport Planning Assistant to ensure timely transport operations and improve performance processes. Candidates must have 3+ years' experience in transport, knowledge of drivers' regulations, and a solid understanding of UK road networks. This role requires effective communication and problem-solving skills, and offers a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

  • MUST have at least 3 years’ experience working in a fast-paced Transport department.
  • MUST have an understanding of drivers working hours and driving time regulations.
  • MUST have a good geographical understanding of the UK road networks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring the planned runs are achieved in a timely manner exceeding customer needs.
  • Communicating with operations department, customers, and hauliers.
  • Managing all PODs, uploading them into the TMS and sending any POD requests onto the customer or colleague.
  • Keeping the transport and sub-contractor log up to date.
  • Speaking to drivers throughout the day, checking on progress and dealing with any issues that may arise during the shift.
  • Following and improving processes linked to performance.
  • Booking out of area or hazardous jobs.
  • Providing quotes internally and externally via calls and emails.
  • Provide holiday cover for planners.

Temp Station are delighted to announce we are currently recruiting a transport planning assistant to join a busy and established freight forwarding client in the Normanton WF6 area on a permanent basis.

  • Assist in ensuring the planned runs are achieved in a timely manner exceeding customer needs.
  • Communicating with operations department, customers and hauliers
  • Managing all POD’s, uploading them into the TMS and sending any POD requests onto the customer or colleague
  • Keeping the transport and sub-contractor log up to date
  • Speaking to drivers throughout the day, checking on progress and dealing with any issues that may arise during the shift
  • Following and improving processes linked to performance
  • Booking out of area or hazardous jobs onto the pallet network/Hazchem portals
  • Providing quotes internally and externally, via calls and emails
  • Provide holiday cover for the planners
  • Will be required to be the lead planner during periods of annual leave throughout the year
  • MUST have at least 3 years’ experience working in a fast paced Transport department
  • MUST have an understanding of drivers working hours and driving time regulations
  • MUST have a good geographical understanding of the UK road networks
