Hours: Standard hours of work are 10am to 7pm Monday to Friday

Role summary

Role summary:

  • Work closely with the Transport manager & 1 Transport planner as a team to deal with all daily transport delivery issues.
  • Managing routes for mixed fleet deliveries - Deliveries are generally bulk haulage
  • Mostly multi-drop – up to 7 drops p/day max
  • Fleet size of 17, with own drivers
  • Planning and scheduling delivery routes
  • Work closely with a large client base on confirmation of deliveries, dealing with changes to delivery slots/days , cancellations etc.
  • Ensuring drivers have the correct paperwork to fulfil their deliveries.
  • Having good geographical knowledge of the local area across the North West
  • Primary contact for drivers throughout the day that experience vehicle or delivery issues.
  • Responsibility for receiving vehicle defects and escalate to the Transport manager.
  • Joint responsibility for managing driver’s hours and tachograph compliance.
  • Working with the transport manager to have vehicles and trailers available for inspection and servicing in accordance with their schedules.
  • Work closely with the team to maximise delivery efficiency.
  • During busy periods answer the phone for inbound calls.
  • A proven transport planner who has planned for mixed fleet.
  • Proficiency in IT applications.
  • Ability to focus and provide solutions under pressure.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet demand.
  • Ability to work in a team and on own initiative.
