Overview
GMMH CAMHS/IST is offering a 12-month Trainee Children and Young People\'s Specialist Clinical Practice Autism and Learning Disabilities (LD/A Practitioner). The post combines hands-on experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism (LD/A) with a fully funded Postgraduate Certificate and weekly clinical supervision. Co-production will be central to this role, ensuring individuals and families are actively involved in shaping support.
This trainee role is ideal for someone passionate about working with neurodivergent children and young people. You will support individuals across a range of GMMH CAMHS/IST services, contributing to assessment, planning and delivery of personalised, strengths-based interventions. You will work with families, schools and professionals to promote inclusive and effective support, implementing person-centred and evidence-based approaches.
Responsibilities
- Support children and young people with LD/A needs across therapeutic and community settings.
- Collaborate with families, schools and professionals to promote inclusive and effective support.
- Participate in assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of personalised, strengths-based interventions.
- Engage in reflective practice and structured academic activities as part of the Postgraduate Diploma training.
- Contribute to co-production activities, ensuring service users\' voices inform practice.
Training and Qualifications
- Postgraduate Certificate (fully funded) and weekly clinical supervision as part of the 12-month training post.
- The course is part-time for one year: 2 days study and 3 days clinical practice, with teaching, self-directed study and supervised clinical practice.
- Exercises will equip practitioners with skills to improve access and outcomes for autistic young people and those with learning disabilities.
- The course does not include ADOS training; assessment may involve neurodevelopmental history taking and observation.
- Knowledge and practice in post-diagnostic psychoeducation, assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation with behaviour that challenges.
- Training in groups such as "+Riding the Rapids\", a parent-training approach to support CYP with behaviour that challenges.
